Injury updates on Jets’ Lorenzo Mauldin, Antonio Cromartie

New York Jets linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin is out ofthe hospital after he was stretchered off the field on Sunday in a 31-10 win over the Cleveland Browns. An injury that seemed initially like it might be career threatening turns out to be not as serious as feared.

Mauldin suffered the injury on a play in the fourth quarter where he stripped Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel of the ball. On the play, Mauldin led with his head andstaggered as he stood up, only to fall to the ground. He was stretchered and taken to the hospital with what the team termed as head and neck injuries.

He was kept overnight and released on Monday morning.

A third round pick, Mauldin was making his NFL debut in the game after a strong training camp.

Injured in the first quarter, cornerback Antonio Cromartie had an MRI on Monday that came back negative. The veteran has a sprained knee and a team spokesman said he has not been ruled out for the Monday night game at the Indianapolis Colts.
