Former Vice President Joe Biden will be making an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday and we have a sneak peek at what the two talked about. The question on everyone’s mind as the Scranton, Pennsylvania-born politician promotes his new book Promise Me, Dad: A Year of Hope, Hardship, and Purpose, about his late son, Beau Biden — Will we see Joe Biden 2020?

While not embroiled in politics right now, Biden hasn’t 100 percent been sitting on the sidelines saying that he has reached out and tries to keep in contact with the current VP Mike Pence.
“I did this caner moon shot for the president, so I’ve continued to have contact with the elements of the administration that are following through on the recommendations we made,” he explained to DeGeneres, before offering some advice: “I don’t think anyone should, at least the former vice president shouldn’t, be criticizing a president of the United States when you’re abroad. I don’t think you should ever do that and I don’t think we should be in the position of essentially talking about a different foreign policy, but that’s the extent to which there has been any interaction.”
“Right, until you run for president in 2020,” DeGeneres said to a swell of applause and cheers from the audience.
Although flattered, Biden told DeGeneres (who was sitting with hands folded in prayer) he would rather devote his time focusing on his late son and the book tour. Although he “honest to God” has not made up his mind, there is still hope for those hanging on for the possibility of a malarkey-free ticket in 2020.
“I’ve decided I am going to devote the next couple months to this book tour because what I don’t want to do is conflate anything having to do with politics with my boy,” Biden replied. “I don’t want to conflate anything to do with politics with the message I hope will be helpful to people going through what I’ve been through.”
Biden leaned in and touched DeGeneres’ arm as if to share a secret or a sage word, adding, “My dad had another expression, he’d say, ‘Joey, don’t compare me to Almighty, compare me to the alternative.’ I think the reason I am looking good now is the alternative, but I really honest to God have not made up my mind. I just want to focus on my boy for the next couple months.”
DeGeneres accepted Biden’s answer, but suggested that she expects to be tapped for VP… unless Biden chooses Oprah. Either one would be fine with her.
