What the shell, people love mermaids. Something about the enchanted underwater creatures are exciting to make into movies and television. Freeform’s Siren premiered last year starring Ryn, the beautiful but dangerous mermaid of Bristol Cove. The monsters of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides showed us their teeth while dragging sailors to a watery grave. 2006 gave us H20: Just Add Water with the teen girls-turned-mermaids of Mako Island. But the OG of our hearts will always be The Little Mermaid. But is The Little Mermaid on Netflix?
What is The Little Mermaid about?
This is a romantic tale that begins under the sea. Ariel, the princess of Atlantis, loves the human world. Dissatisfied with her home, she collects human items and takes trips to the surface, despite her father, King Triton, forbidding her. One night, Ariel swims to the surface to watch Prince Eric’s birthday on his ship. She instantly falls in love with him. Later, a storm hits and knocks Prince Eric overboard. Ariel saves his life. But after a fight with her father, she decides she must find Prince Eric. She makes a dangerous deal with Ursula, the sea witch. The deal allows her to be human for three days, but Eric must fall in love with her before those days are up. Is that enough for him to fall in love with her? (Hint: it’s a Disney movie, what do you think?)
Is The Little Mermaid on Netflix?
So now you know the tea on the star-crossed love story, we must answer the question. Is The Little Mermaid on Netflix? Sadly, no. Although the popular Disney film was on Netflix, it is now gone. There are many other Disney titles still on Netflix though. From Pocahontas, to Mulan, to the Incredibles 2, we’re sure you can find something to your liking. Unfortunately, The Little Mermaid is not currently available to rent or buy, because its digital release is on hold by Disney. In order to watch the Disney classic, you might have to wait until it is released by Disney or until their new streaming service drops.
