Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner to move family to DC: Report

While his son Barron and wife Melania will remain in New York for the foreseeable future, President-elect Donald Trump will not be without his family in the nation’s capital. Daughter Ivanka, son-in-law Jared Kushner and their three children are all headed to Washington, media reports indicate.

The couple, credited for helping steer Trump to victory in November, is currently house hunting in Washington, according to CNN. Ivanka Trump has been one of her father’s most trusted advisers and continues to be a key player on the transition team, having meetings with prominent people such as Al Gore on Monday before the president-elect’s own meeting with the former vice president. She has also pledged to advocate on issues such as wage equality and child care. The president-elect also suggested via a series of posts on Twitter that he will be leaving his “great business in total order” to his eldest children.

Kushner is also expected to be a White House adviser in a not yet specified role.Though concerns over anti-nepotism policies might complicate Kushner’s appointment, key members of the Trump administration seemed confident he would play a role.

“I think Jared Kushner, obviously [Trump’s] son-in-law is going to be very involved in decision-making,” White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said on NBC’s “Today” show last month.

It’s not known exactly where Ivanka Trump and her husband are looking, though some reports contend the practicing Orthodox Jewish family might be searching in Georgetown, in an area walking distance from the well-known Kesher Israel synagogue. Other reports say it could be suburban Maryland, where there are numerous Orthodox communities.

Last month, it was reported that Melania will continue to live at Trump Tower with son Barron, 10, who attends an Upper West Side private school.
