Ivanka Trump may be winning Trump’s “War on Christmas.” She recently tweeted “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas.”
President Trump’s advisor and the first daughter tweeted a photo of herself with guests standing in front of a Christmas tree and American Flag. The message in the tweet read: “Happy Holidays!” with a playful kissing emoji.
She posted the tweet on Monday, a day before the start of Hanukkah. Ivanka Trump converted to Judaism after marrying her Jewish husband Jared Kushner in 2009.

Shortly after she posted the tweet, Twitter erupted with responses to her using “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” — a phrase President Trump insists on being used at the White House. Some criticized her for not using “Merry Christmas,” while others commended her for her all-inclusive message on Twitter.

One person commended Ivanka Trump for what they believe is her “only good tweet.” They hope her father sees it and becomes riddled with anxiety and stomach issues.

Trump has been a strong advocate for the phrase “Merry Christmas.” In 2012, he tweeted his feelings about the phrase, saying more Americans prefer to use “Merry Christmas” over “Happy Holidays.”
7 of 10 Americans prefer ‘Merry Christmas’ over ‘Happy Holidays’ http://t.co/Xjimd3KU No surprise.

Last year during his presidential campaign, he urged his supporters that one of the things he would restore to the White House is the practice of saying “Merry Christmas,” claiming that is a phrase you don’t see a lot of anymore. During several campaign speeches, he promised the phrase was going to be used again. In fact, Trump has found many opportunities to remind the public that “Merry Christmas” will be the official holiday phrase, including the speech below, in which he told the audience that he’s bringing “Merry Christmas” back to the White House.
