A Week 5 bye week isn’t ideal for most NFL teams given how early it comes in the football calendar but for the beaten, battered and bruised New York Jets, it couldn’t come at a better time.

The Jets emerged victorious from Sunday’s trip to London, winners over the Miami Dolphins in what was a very strong performance on both sides of the ball. But injuries to several key players including linebacker David Harris were a dark spot in the game.

There is now an early bye week for the Jets, who will have the week off to lick their wounds and look to move to 4-1 in two weeks time when they host the Washington Redskins.

“Right now, Calvin Pryor has a bruised knee. David Harris has the quad. Leonard Williams has a sprained ankle and Bilal Powell has the groin,” head coach Todd Bowles said on Monday in a conference call with the media. “All status equals still getting checked out, they’re pretty sore this week so (the bye) came at a good time.”

Bowles wouldn’t commit to the group all being back and ready to go in two weeks time.

“I hope so, but it’s too early to tell,” he said. “As long as they get treatment and everything heals, hopefully that’s the process. But, I won’t be able to tell until next week, right now.”
