At least one domino has fallen into place for the New York Red Bulls this summer transfer window as they are getting one of their targeted attacking players.
Multiple sources are telling Metro that Muhamed Keita will be signed by the Red Bulls, the first of two additions the club is expected to make in the near-term. Keita was acquired by the Red Bulls in a trade with Minnesota United, who held his discovery rights.
The player is expected to sign with the Red Bulls sometime this weekend.
The move is still awaiting his medical and ITC.
A 27-year old midfielder, Keita can play wide or even as a forward in a pinch. He also has played in the center of the midfield as well, having spent the majority of his club career in Norway. His last club was Lech Poznan in Poland.
Born in Gambia, Keita has represented Norway at various levels including their U-21 and U-23 national team.
He brings much needed pace to a rather pedestrian Red Bulls midfield. Keita also played for Bob Bradley, the former United States national team coach while both were at Norwegian club Stabaek.
Red Bulls head coach Jesse Marsch played for Bradley in MLS and was Bradley’s assistant coach with the national team.
