A landscape service worker died when a piece of a tree he was cutting off fell into the bucket of the cherry picker he was in and sent him falling over 50 feet to the ground.
Authorities arrived at a home on Flaggler Road in Leominster Thursday around 12 p.m. to find that Nick Kallio, 26, had fallen while cutting a tree branch that ricocheted into another tree, knocking him to the ground, WCVB reported. I hope I never do again,” homeowner Dennis Owen, who witnessed the incident, said to CBS Boston. Kallio was pronounced dead at Leominster Hospital, CBS Boston added.
“My wife says, ‘How can I sit out back there this summer and enjoy myself on the deck or by the pool thinking a guy just fell to his death out here?'” Owen said to WCVB. “It’s a constant reminder.” RELATED:Police investigating wind’s role in worker’s deadly fall from NJ building Kallio had been working at the home for hours before the incident, according to WCVB.
