Lane Kiffin, arguably the most controversial coach in college football, will become the new head coach of the Houston, according to multiple reports.
Unless Houston’s school President, Renu Khator, has a last minute change of heart, Kiffin will replace Tom Herman, according to USA Today. Kiffin is just 41-years-old but has already been head coach of the NFL’s Oakland Raiders (2007-08), the Tennessee Volunteers (2009) andUSC (2010-13). He has been the offensive coordinator at Alabama since 2014. He owns a 35-21 career head coaching mark in the collegiate ranks. Kiffinwent 28-15 in his last head coaching stop at USC. The Trojans program was hampered by NCAA sanctions dating back to the Pete Carroll era during that time and Kiffin felt as though he wasn’t given a fair shot in Southern California. “When the sanctions were handed down, it was basically the death penalty,” Kiffintold CBS this year. “You felt like you were on an uneven playing field and being judged. Because once the ball was kicked, nobody remembered how many players you had.”
