World Mosquito Day is celebrated on Aug. 20 to commemorate Indian doctor Sir Ronald Ross’s discovery that female mosquitoes transmit malaria between humans.
Though malaria cases have dropped by 18 percent in the past five years, an ongoing Zika epidemic is now a concern.
