O.G. rapper Lil’ Wayne sat down with ABC News’ “Nightline” for a rare interview on Monday. When the topic shifted from his career and hobbies (weed and skateboarding) to race and the Black Lives Matter movement, things got a bit shaky. The 34-year-old New Orleans native says that he does not feel “connected” to the movement because it doesn’t have anything to do with him. His rationale? He’s rich! “I am a young, black, rich motherf—ker. If that don’t let you know that America understand black motherf—king lives matter these days, I don’t know what it is.”

These statements contradict sentiments at his LilWeezyana Fest in August, which was live streamed by Tidal, where he closed the show with “cars don’t matter, nothing else matters, because black lives matter!” These contradictions might be the reason questions about BLM are a sore topic for Weezy. He abruptly ended the interview stating “I aint no f–king politician.”

No word on how he felt about Black Lives Matter on Tuesday and Wedsnesday.
