Hamilton star Lin-Manuel Miranda will step back into the Founding Father’s shoes — for a good cause.

Miranda is bringing his smash hit Broadway show to his family’s native Puerto Rico for a three-week run in January 2019. He’ll step back into the title role of Alexander Hamilton, which he played from when the show opened in July 2015 through July 2016.

The show will come to San Juan in January 2019 for a three-week run at the University of Puerto Rico’s Teatro UPR.

“Bringing [Hamilton] to Puerto Rico is a dream that I’ve had since we first opened at The Public Theater in 2015,” said Miranda in a statement to Playbill, which first reported on the performance.

“When I last visited the island, a few weeks before Hurricane Maria, I had made a commitment to not only bring the show to Puerto Rico, but also return again to the title role. In the aftermath of Maria we decided to expedite the announcement of the project to send a bold message that Puerto Rico will recover and be back in business, stronger than ever.”

The U.S. government’s recovery efforts have been widely criticized as both slow and ineffective since Hurricane Maria devastated the U.S. territory in September.

Some of the most visible faces of the relief mission have been celebrities, most notably Miranda who’s been soliciting donations for the Hispanic Federation on Twitter daily and wrote the star-studded benefit song Almost Like Praying.

Comedian Nick Kroll and Stephen Colbert created the trending hashtag #PuberMe on Twitter asking celebrities to share photos of their teenage selves and solicit donations, and chef Jose Andres has been on the island cooking for displaced residents since the disaster happened.

Hamilton is scheduled to run from Jan. 8-27, 2019. No announcement has been made about when tickets will be available.
