NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and celebrities Robert De Niro,Sally Field,Mark Ruffalo, Rosie Perez, Alec Baldwin,Marisa Tomei, Julianne Moore, Cynthia Nixon, Natalie Merchant andMichael Moore are holding a rally outside Trump International Hotel and Tower starting Thursday 6 p.m. “Thousands of New Yorkers are coming together to stand up for one another, as we will do every day, to protect the values we hold dear — to fight for health care, criminal justice, immigrant rights, and action on climate change,” “Spotlight” actor Mark Ruffalo said. “We are sending a message to Washington that we will fight at every step discrimination and harmful policies, today, tomorrow, and every day. “Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City are leading the way forward, taking action on critical issues like climate change by ramping up renewable energy and getting off fossil fuels. Big and small, cities and towns across the country have the power to protect people and the environment by joining together.” Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges, New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, Reverend Al Sharpton, New York’s first lady Shailene Woodley andorganizations including MoveOn.org, Families USA, Greenpeace US, New York Communities for Change, Make the Road New York, Planned Parenthood of New York City, Working Families Party and the New York State Nurses Association are participating. A traffic alert was issued for the Columbus Circle area: “Due to protest activity, expect possible traffic delays and intermittent street closures throughout Manhattan, including the areas of Columbus Circle and 57th Street and 5th Avenue. Consider alternate routes and allow for additional travel time.”
