Lyft and Massachusetts Brewers Guild partner up to make craft breweries more accessible

Massachusetts is practically overflowing with breweries, and to help you try out the many pours they have to offer, the Massachusetts Brewers Guild is partnering with Lyft to offer rides, promo codes and other perks to more than 90 craft breweries across the commonwealth.

Lyft is now the official rideshare partner of the guild — a nonprofit that focuses on protecting and promoting local brewers across the state — the company announced Tuesday.

That means that Lyft will be present at upcoming beer festivals and events, and also offer special perks to beer enthusiasts as well as to the brewers themselves. Each of the 90 member breweries will get their own Lyft coupon code for new riders.

To celebrate the partnership, Lyft is offering 10 percent off rides to Massachusetts Brewers Guild member breweries, including Boston-area faves Harpoon and Nightshift as well as others outside of Greater Boston, between Oct. 24 and Oct. 29 with the code MBG17.

“Craft breweries are a huge part of Massachusetts’s culture. We’re excited to be the official rideshare partner of the Massachusetts Brewers Guild and to help support the brewers, employees, and patrons of the local craft beer industry,”  said Tyler George, General Manager of Lyft New England, in a statement. “This partnership ensures everyone can enjoy craft beers and on-demand rides across Massachusetts.”

With breweries popping up in every corner of the state, the partnership will also make them more safely accessible when public transportation isn’t an option.

“Our mission is to drive traffic to all breweries in every nook and corner, to western mass to the lower Cape region to the northeast, so we’re hoping to see a lot of traffic with this,” said Katie Stinchon, executive director of the brewers guild. “Some breweries are out of reach for public transportation and not everyone has access to a car, especially our city folk. It’s a natural partnership.”

Breweries will also have and earn Lyft credits as another partnership perk to promote safety.

“Every taproom manager will start to accrue credits as people use the Lyft codes, so they have the ability to send someone home in a safe way, whether a staff employee or a guest,” Stinchon said.

“Responsible consumption is a major focus of our efforts, and top of mind for all of our taproom managers,” she added. “We want people to visit our breweries, try some of our awesome beers, get home safe and come back again.”
