Maggie Gyllenhaal ‘too old’ to play 55-year-old’s love interest
Actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, the sister of thatother Gyllenhaal, recently revealed that she lost a role because she was “too old to play the lover of a man who was 55.”
Gyllenhaal is 37-years-old.
Gyllenhaal, whose most recent work was the much buzzed about Sundance Series “The Honourable Woman,” said that it was “astonishing.”
“There are things that are really disappointing about being an actress in Hollywood that surprise me all the time,” Gyllenhaal said in an interview with TheWrap Magazine. “I’m 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, and then it made feel angry, and then it made me laugh.”
We’re all laughing, Maggie.
We’re all laughing because if we don’t laugh, we’ll just cry a really ugly cry.
