New Agey types have long sought out the power of healing crystals to improve their ability to relax, but a new breed of healing jewelry is popping up that promises to noticeably improve your health. It’s not about chakras, it’s about science.
Dr. Michael Unger — founder of L Michaels Jewelry, which sells a variety of magnetic jewelry — discovered the healing power of magnets after suffering an injury at the gym. He had purchased a magnetic necklace for his wife (purely for the fashion statement) but upon hearing about the healing power of magnets, decided to test it out.
“I pinched a nerve and my left hand and foot were cold, even though the temperature wasn’t actually cold and my hand was okay,” says Unger. “The only cure for that was surgery. I wore [a magnetic bracelet] for about two weeks and after that, I was pretty much symptom free.”
Upscale watch company Philip Stein has also discovered ways to improve relaxation, though they use entirely different technology. The watch contains a plate that is programmed with a frequency close to that of our brain waves. Its interaction with the brain waves has shown, in Philip Stein’s tests, to improve concentration and sleep.
