A man who recently returned to the U.S. from Mali tested negative for Ebola on Thursday.
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation said Thursday afternoon the patient was isolated at Bellevue Hospital, and being tested for the virus due to symptoms and travel history. Test results came back negative later Thursday. The man will remain isolated and receive further testing.
Mali is has “limited Ebola transmission,” the health department said. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, five people have died of Ebola in Mali in 2014.
