What started out as a regular traffic stop in Upper Manhattan became a bust of guns, knives and one not so bright driver.
On Saturday, Jan. 2 at about 12:30 p.m. police were performing Vision Zero Enforcement when they saw a man — identified as 45-year-old Daniel Figueroa — driving a gold, 2008 Lincoln MKX heading westbound on West 145th Street at Lenox Avenue, according to cops.
Seeing Figueroa using his cell phone while driving, police officers pulled the car over to investigate. After conducting a New York State Department of Motor Vehicles check the officers found that the Rochester, NY resident was driving with a suspended license, police said.
While being taken into custody, Figueroa admitted to possessing three loaded firearms on his person and another inside his car, according to authorities.
From the arrest police discovered one Llama .45 caliber semi-automatic pistol, one Davis Arms .38 caliber derringer, one Smith & Wesson .40 caliber semi-automatic pistol, one Taurus .38 caliber special revolver, three extra loaded pistol magazines, and four switchblade knives.
Figueroa faces charges of 10 counts of criminal possession of a weapon, aggravated unlicensed operator, and driving while using a mobile phone.
