It’s New Year’s Eve in New York City and we all know Times Square will be jam packed with approximately 1 million people bringing in the New Year. It is advised that you do not drive any vehicles in the area. Starting today at 3pm, Times Square will be shut down to all vehicular traffic.
At 4 a.m. Wednesday morning the following streets will be closed to all traffic:
At 1:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon the following streets will be closed in preparation for Times Square New Year’s celebration: At approximately 6:30 p.m. when crowds of people begin to arrive at Times Square to get a good spot to see the ball drop, the following streets will shut down: 4 9th to 59th Streets between 6th and 8th Avenues
48th Street from 5th to 9th Avenues

Broadway from 47th to 48th Streets
46th and 47th Streets from 6th to 8th Avenue
7th Avenue from 41st to 59th Streets

Beginning at 5 pm:
42nd Street from 6th to 8th Avenue
All cross-town streets from 37th to 41st Streets
In case of emergency, there will be c rosstown street access for emergency vehicles at 42nd, 48th, and 59th Streets.
