Fourth of July festivities and fireworks will cause street closures and traffic delays in New York City this weekend.
The Department of Transportation and NYPD said there may be residual delays near all of the street closures on July 4, 5 and 6.
Friday, July 4
The annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Show will take place from about 9 to 9:50 p.m., causing traffic delays from about 2 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Saturday.
— FDR Drive will be closed in both directions from the Battery Park Underpass to Houston Street from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday or until cleanup is complete in Manhattan. South Street will be closed in both directions from Montgomery to State Streets during the same time. Front Street from Old Slip to Dover Street will also be closed, and Brooklyn Bridge traffic going east and west – including walkways – will be shut down at the same times.
— In Brooklyn, there will also be several closures for the fireworks. They are: Old Fulton Street/Cadman Plaza West/Court Street between Henry Street and Joralemon Street, Adams Street between Tillary Street and Joralemon Street, Tillary Street between Prince Street and Cadman Plaza West, Flatbush Avenue/Flatbush Avenue Extension between Tillary Street and Atlantic Avenue, Joralemon Street between Henry Street and Adams Street, Atlantic Avenue between Henry Street and Flatbush Avenue, Columbia Street between Atlantic Avenue and Degraw Street, Degraw Street between Columbia Street and Van Brunt Street, Van Brunt Street between Degraw Street and Dead End, Summit Street between Van Brunt Street and Imlay Street, Imlay Street between Summit and Pioneer Street, Pioneer Street between Van Brunt Street and Conover Street, Conover Street between Pioneer Street and Dead End, King Street between Conover Street and Ferries Street, Ferries Street between Kings Street and Van Dyke Street, Sullivan Street between Van Brunt Street and Dead End, Wolcott Street between Van Brunt Street and Dead End, Dikeman Street between Van Brunt Street and Dead End, Coffey Street between Van Brunt Street and Dead End, Van Dyke Street between Van Brunt Street and Dead End, Beard Street between Conover Street and Van Brunt Street and Reed Street between Conover Street and Van Brunt Street.
The Arielle Newman/Pepper Martin Foot Race will close Clove Road between Martling and Forest avenues and Forest Avenue between Victory Boulevard and Manor Road from 8 to 11 a.m. on Staten Island.
The Travis 4th of July Celebration Parade will cause street closures along and near its route from 12:30 to 3 p.m. on Staten Island. The route goes west on Victory Boulevard to Glen Street to Cannon Avenue and south on Victory Boulevard to 141 East Service Road.
Saturday, July 5
The McBurney YMCA 6th Avenue Festival will close Sixth Avenue between 14th and 23rd streets from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Woodside Avenue between Roosevelt Avenue and 65th Place, as well sat 61st Street between Roosevelt and Woodside avenues, will be closed from 12 to 6 p.m. for the Woodside on the Move-Woodside Avenue Festival in Queens.
Sunday, July 6
The Friends of CB# 1 30th Avenue Festival from 12 to 6 p.m. in Queens will close 30th Avenue between 29th and 41st streets.
From 12 to 6 p.m., Tour de Queens will close several streets.
— Avenue of the States, Astronaut Court, Dwight Eisenhower, Promenade of Industry, Avenue of Discovery, Botanical Garden Branch and Perimeter Road will be closed in Flushing Meadow Park.
