McDonald’s is getting a makeover. The company announced Tuesday that it and its franchisees will invest approximately $320 million this year and next to construct and modernize 360 locations across the state of New York.
As part of the company’s national, $6 billion initiative to modernize most of its U.S. locations by 2020, this local investment into New York McDonald’s aims to make the customer experience more engaging and offer new technological enhancements.
The revamped McDonald’s restaurants will feature refreshed exteriors and globally and locally inspired décor and new furniture inside; digital self-order kiosks that will “empower guests to customize their meal;” digital menu boards inside and at drive-thrus; designated parking spaces for mobile orders; remodeled counters with table service so customers can relax as their food is prepared; and expanded McCafe counters and display cases.
“This is an exciting time at McDonald’s, and we’re proud to be investing $320 million to provide a new experience, look and feel for guests at McDonald’s locations across the state of New York,” said Paul Hendel, an owner/operator in New York and president of the New York Tri-State Owner/Operators Association. “We are also pleased that our modernization efforts support local construction, design and engineering jobs across the great state of New York.”
McDonald’s modernization: NYC officials are ‘lovin’ it’
The news of McDonald’s modernization investment had officials from all across New York City “lovin’ it.”
“Aside from driving jobs to the area, the fast-food chain is a trusted staple for many Brooklynites looking to budget time and money in order to provide their families with a ‘happy meal,’” said Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce Acting President Rick Russo.
Added Linda Baran, president and CEO of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, “McDonald’s continually supports our borough as an employer and active participant in our community. By reinvesting in the customer experience through the modernization of restaurants, McDonald’s is supporting local construction jobs and demonstrating its commitment to its customers on Staten Island.”
