Melania Trump is hosting her first Halloween party on the White House lawn on Monday for “ghosts and goblins of all ages,” but in teasing the event on Twitter, the first lady learned a lot of people are under the impression that holiday is year-round with Trump in the White House.
Melania invited trick-or-treaters (school children and parents from more than 20 Maryland, Virginia, and District of Columbia schools, as well as military families) to head to the White House lawn from 4 to 7 p.m. to check out festive decorations and pumpkins carved with the profiles of past presidents, according to a press release.
After announcing the shindig, Melania Trump teased a photo of the White House Halloween decorations on Twitter.
She posted a photo from the interior of the White House that showed a window draped in cobwebs with purple lighting.
“The People’s House @WhiteHouse is ready to celebrate,” Melania tweeted on Saturday night.

Trump haters were quick to throw shade on Melania’s Halloween party plans.
“You really didn’t need to add the decorations to make the White House scarier than it is on a daily basis,” @miss_anyfinn tweeted.

“Wow, y’all should have just let trump stand in the yard. I think that’s enough decoration for Halloween,” tweeted @el_shanzo.

But not everyone was hating on Melania — a fair share of Twitter followers threw their support behind the first lady. Recent polls show Melania is the most popular member of the Trump family.
“We love & appreciate you #FLOTUS,” tweeted @LoveUSADawn

Melania and her husband, President Donald Trump, will hand out “presidential M&Ms” and cookies baked by the White House pastry kitchen. Secret Service agents will also be handing out other candy to trick-or-treaters throughout the event.
Last Halloween, then-President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama welcomed more than 4,000 people to an Alice In Wonderland themed celebration with teacups and rabbits. They even joined in a dance to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” with trick-or-treaters — mostly military families and families from Washington-area elementary schools.
