RD’s Deli and Market in Melrose has indefinitely lost its lottery license for allegedly trying to scam a mentally disabled woman out of her $10,000 scratch ticket winnings.

Now, theMassachusetts State Lottery wants to permanently terminate the store’s lotto license, accordingto a WBZ report.

The woman, who was not identified, reportedly brought in a winning ticket worth $10,000, but the store’s owner only gave her $950 in cash. Any prize over $600 must be cashed at the lottery office.

After the woman’s family member reached out to the state lottery, an investigation connected state officials with the store’s owner. He allegedly admitted that he took the ticket and had not cashed it yet.

The ticket was located and brought to the customer who originally purchased it, according to WBZ.

It is unclear if the store owner will face any charges.
