Mila Kunis makes monthly donations to Planned Parenthood in Mike Pence’s name

To speak out against Vice President Mike Pence’s record on reproductive rights, Mila Kunis is using the power of autopay.

The Family Guy star set up a monthly donation to Planned Parenthood in the vice president’s name, which sends him a letter of thanks each time, she said in an interview on Conan on Thursday.

“I disagreed with some of the stuff that Pence was doing and was trying to do,” Kunis said. “And so, as a reminder that there are women in the world that may or may not agree with his platform, I put him on a list of reoccurring donations that are made in his name to Planned Parenthood,” she added, while the audience applauded.

“So this happens every month?” asked host Conan O’Brien.

“Every month, to his office, he gets a little letter that says ‘an anonymous donation has been made in your name’,” said Kunis. “I don’t look at it as a prank, I look at it just as, I strongly disagree [with him], and this is my little way of showing it.”

Other celebrities such as Amy Schumer and Amber Tamblyn make similar donations in protest.

Pence is a longtime abortion-rights opponent who during the 2016 presidential campaign vowed to “see Roe v. Wade consigned to the ash heap of history where it belongs.” As Indiana governor in April 2016, he signed a bill banned abortions based on fetal abnormalities such as Down syndrome and required that aborted fetuses be buried or cremated. Last September, a district judge permanently struck down the law as unconstitutional.

Kunis has previously spoken out about the Trump administration’s stance on immigration. In July’s issue of Glamour magazine, she wrote about how her family immigrated to the U.S. from Ukraine with $250 in savings. “We came here on a religious-refugee visa, and I’m not going to blow this country up,” she wrote. “I’m clearly paying taxes. I’m not taking anything away. So the fact that people look at what’s happening and are like, ‘Pfft, they’re going to blow s-t up’? It saddens me how much fear we’ve instilled in ourselves.”
