Most popular Irish bars on St. Patrick’s Day in New York

We all have our favorite neighborhood bars, after-work bars and fancy bars. But when it comes to St. Patrick’s Day, it’s all about finding a proper Irish bar and the right crowd to celebrate with.

Ride-sharing company Lyft just released their driver data (based on pick-ups and drop-offs) on where the action is on St. Patty’s. The busiest neighborhoods are no surprise — Murray Hill, Lower East Side, East Village and Williamsburg — while the most popular bars are a mix of well-known tourist spots and neighborhood gems:

1.Paddy Reilly’s (519 Second Ave., Kips Bay) — Named for one of Ireland’s foremost musicians, this old school bar and live music venue has a party every night with entertainment seven days a week. Open until 4 a.m., you’ll always find a warm welcome here.

2.Bua (122 St. Marks Place, East Village) — The owners are Irish, but you’ll also find plenty of local craft brews and regular pub food like fried pickles and sandwiches at this Lower East Side gem.

3.The Dead Rabbit (30 Water St., Financial District) — If you don’t already know, this is the best bar in the world. Run by two guys from Belfast, it’s a little like St. Patty’s every night with frequent live music and what they claim is the world’s largest collection of whiskey.

4.The Four-Faced Liar (165 W. Fourth St., West Village) — A classic bar that doesn’t feel dated, the Liar is beloved by the after-work crowd for its friendly bar staff and plenty of seating. There’s no food, but you can bring your own to enjoy alongside the perfectly poured pints of Guinness.

5.McSorley’s Old Ale House (15 E. Seventh St., Astor Place) — The good times have been rolling at NYC’s longest continuously operated saloon since 1854. The menu remains a simple affair, limited to Light or Dark options, but what it lacks in frills, McSorley’s makes up for its decor heavy on history and memorabilia.
