Mother of 3 dies after paramedics fail to find gunshot wound: Family

A mother of three who was shot Wednesday morning in Brooklyn bled to death when responding paramedics couldn’t find her gunshot wound, her family told the New York Daily News.

Salaya Figueroa, 27, was struck in the buttocks as she and her boyfriend ran from gunfire around 12:30 a.m. outside the Louis Pink Houses on Loring Avenue in East New York, her family said.

“They put her on her back, and they kept saying she wasn’t shot,” Figueroa’s grandmother, Odessa Figueroa, said. “The bullet just damaged other organs, and she bled internally.”

According to the police report, Figueroa was struck in the back and was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made, police said, and the shooting is still under investigation.
