Houston Rockets owner Les Alexander has made it known for the past month that his NBA franchise is for sale.
On Tuesday, one of the most recognizable names in the world has been rumored to be interested in taking over: Beyonce.
That’s right, the superstar musician, who is a Houston native, “is mulling an investment” in the Rockets, according to Scott Soshnick of Bloomberg.com.

While it is unclear just how much of a stake she would pursue in the team, Soshnick believes that the price tag for Rockets ownership could exceed the $2 billion mark due to the team’s popularity in China. That would be a new NBA record, which is currently held by Steve Ballmer’s acquisition of the Los Angeles Clippers in 2014 for $2 billion.
Beyonce would be following in the footsteps of her husband, Jay-Z, who was a minority owner of the Brooklyn Nets until 2013 when he started Roc Nation, which represents professional athletes ranging from Kevin Durant to Robinson Cano.
