The one terrible thing about Narciso Rodriguez’s collections is that they sort of spoil the rest of Fashion Week for you — that’s how exquisite, how pure, how intoxicating his clothes are. The cut, the fabrics, the precise fit: Nobody else in New York makes stuff like this. For Fall 2015, Rodriguez refined his signature minimalism, elongating and flattening his silhouette: His crepe flared trousers and sweeping sleeveless coats nearly grazed the floor, while stretchy knit bustiers layered over sheer bodysuits gave the effect of two-dimensional planes on top. Most of the ensembles stuck to modernist black and white, but when Rodriguez did use color, he really made it sing, combining rich plum with cool spearmint, say, or a golden saffron with blush pink. Breathtaking. Trends: layering, flares, long lines, slip dresses, sleeveless coats
Instaworthy: a knit dress in gorgeous saffron, perfectly cut
