New York, there’s a giant rubber duck coming our way

Attention New Yorkers and whatever people who live in the tri-state area call themselves, something exciting is happening on Long Island.

A giant rubber duck name “Mama Duck” is visiting Long Island’s Oyster Bay for its, you guessed it, oyster festival starting this coming Saturday, Oct. 17.

“The brainchild of Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, Mama has plenty of stamps in her passport,” The New York Post writes. “Since her creation in 2007, she’s appeared in Amsterdam, Osaka, Sydney, São Paulo, Pittsburgh and beyond. Most recently, she turned up in New Jersey. But alas, she lost her air once again.”

“Mama Duck” reportedly stands at 62 feet tall and weighs 22,000 pounds (which equals about as much as 200,000 real life ducklings).

Much like many other oversized things, Mama Duck certainly seems to have a habit of going flaccid on her guests. After losing air in Hong Kong, New Jersey and Philadelphia, one has to wonder — can Mama Duck keep it up for New York?
