After answering just a few questions, one site promises to help ease the hassle of finding a new home — and help you find the right one.
Place I Live — a location-based platform that provides users updates for specific neighborhoods — has launched a new site where New Yorkers will be able to narrow down what area in the Big Apple is right for them to rent or buy. The new system takes into account an individual’s personal preferences and needs through nine questions — including gender, age range, what you feel is an ideal neighborhood for you, priorities and more — and afterwards calculates the best neighborhoods. “New Yorkers think they know where they want to live in the city but our simple test showed that many could do better in terms of neighborhood choice, due to the variety of new neighborhoods, rapid gentrification and other factors,” said Sarunas Legeckas, co-founder of Place I Live Portal. “Choosing a home is a very responsible task — and people should be fully informed before they commit to a neighborhood and a home.” The matching system is still in the early stages so user participation will help develop its algorithm so it can provide better suggestions as time goes on.
Other real estate matching systems out there also include MatchPad and RoomMatchers.com which help you find roommates, rooms and apartments across the city.
