The Winnipeg Jets travel to Tennessee to face off against the Nashville Predators tonight at 8 p.m. ET at Bridgestone Arena. This will be the Jets first game of a four-game road trip.
The last time these two teams met was back on Oct. 11 where Nashville came out on top 3-0.
Winnipeg is 30-14-2 with 62 points this season and currently on a three-game winning streak. They are coming off a huge 4-1 victory over Vegas on Jan. 15 where they were able to jump them in the standings.
The Jets are now ranked third in the West and trail Calgary for the top seed by just three points.
It seems as if the Western Conference is going to come down to the wire since there is a five-point differential between seeds Nos. 1-through-5. None of the competing teams seem to be slowing down anytime soon.
The Jets have only a two-point lead over Nashville and Vegas so tonight’s game will be crucial. If Winnipeg can come out victorious, it will allow them some breathing room.
Nashville is 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and 28-16-4 with 60 points overall this season. They are coming off a big 7-2 win over the defending Stanley Cup champions back on Jan. 15.
They are currently tied with the Vegas Golden Knights for the fourth seed and as I mentioned earlier, they trial Winnipeg by just two points.
The Predators don’t have that superstar offensive player that’s going to get them 40 or more goals per season but they have a solid collection of guys who can all score the puck. Nashville has five skaters who have 10 or more goals this season and nine with eight or more goals.
Tonight’s wild wild Western Conference showdown will be featured on ESPN+. Will Winnipeg be able to cushion their lead and gain ground on Calgary or will Nashville tie things up for the third seed? Tune in to find out!
