Kids in Roslindale are on the verge of securing some very cool bragging rights for their neighborhood playground — the longest slide in the city of Boston.
The project, part of renovations at Fallon Field, will offer a large climbing structure with a “sky cabin” on top and a 25-foot slide, city officials revealed last year.
An update on the project’s website said that officials are hopeful the park could open as early as this month, after some delays in equipment shipments postponed an earlier launch date.
“The climbing structure and slide are huge, and the slope between the two tiers of the playground is shaping up to be a tremendous play asset,” a statement on the Roslindale Playgrounds site read. “We are looking forward to seeing even more of the playground’s details reach completion.” The renovations also include a new water spray area, Universal Hub reported. The project’s budget is about $650,000, the Roslindale Transcript reported last year.
