Remember when we found out that Mindy Kaling was pregnant, and we were all like, “Woah! How?! When?! Where? WHO!”
Well, at least one of those questions have been answered, on behalf of our queen and not-future president, Oprah Winfrey. The 63-year-old — who stars with Kaling and Reese Witherspoon in the big screen adaptation of “A Wrinkle In Time” — shared with People that she only recently found out Kaling was pregnant, anyway.
The two were standing in the film’s press line at Disney’s D23 earlier this month when Kaling decided to announce the news. “That’s when she told me. My mouth drooped,” Winfrey says. “‘What did you just say?’ she said, ‘Oh, Oprah, I don’t think you know. I’m 5 months pregnant.’ And I said ‘WHAAAAT?!’”
Raise your hand if you can hear Oprah saying “WHAAAT?!” in your head. All of you? Yes, OK.
“That was it, and we just kept smiling,” Winfrey continues. “And then I said to [Reese], ‘Did you know?’ and she said, ‘I just found out, too.’ And then I said to [“Wrinkle” director Ava DuVernay], ‘Did you know?’ And she said, ‘I just found out.’” Damn. Kaling really is not playing games up in here.
As far as who, sources tell the magazine that Kaling is refusing to share the identity of her baby’s father — even when it comes to her close friends. What do they say about secrets being no fun? When the news broke on July 17, a source shared that “The Mindy Project” star “just started telling her friends that she’s pregnant, but she’s not telling anyone — not even close friends — who the father is.”
Damn, Kaling OK! Just as long as it’s not Cory Booker, we’re good.
