Oprah finally explains this whole ‘secret son’ business

Earlier this month, Oprah was ambushed by a man claiming to be her secret son. The world gasped at the drama.

“Oprah asked my mom if she could adopt me, and my mom denied her,” the alleged secret son, now a grown adult named Calvin Mitchell, told Radar Online in an interview. “We had a close relationship. Oprah and Stedman were like family to me.”

Radar reports that Oprah met Mitchell in 1992 on the film set for a TV show, ironically called, “There Are No Children Here.” Oprah was allegedly “so touched” by Mitchell sneaking past security to offer her a soda that he appointed him as what Mitchell called her “personal bodyguard.”

Oprah reportedly sent Mitchell gifts and paid for him to attend a private school, which Mitchell dropped out of. Oprah, reportedly unpleased with this decision, cut off communication, which sent Mitchell “spiraling into depression and thoughts of suicide,” Radar reports.

Now, with the supposed skeleton dragged from Oprah’s closet, she has come out to explain her side of the story.

“I met Calvin around the early ‘90s, I think it was 1992…I was doing a film for television called ‘There Are No Children Here.’ We were shooting in the projects in Chicago and I was sitting on set during a break, and this cute little sparkly-eyed boy came underneath the yellow tape to hand me a soda,” Oprah told Entertainment Tonight.“I was so charmed by him that I started talking to him about his family, his school life, and found out that he was in a situation where his mother didn’t have a job and they were stuck in the projects.”

Oprah then explained that after Mitchell ambused her, she asked for his number, but found out the entire thing was a “setup” for the National Enquirer.

“When I realized the whole thing was a setup, I was no longer interested in speaking to him,” She explained, later saying she wasn’t upset or hurt by the incident but rather “disappointed.”
