Desserts are all the rage — why not tick a few more hot spots off your list while helping a good cause?
That’s the idea behind Sweet September, when participating sweets shops and restaurants donate a portion of proceeds from special treats to benefit homebound seniors through Citymeals on Wheels.
With 25 restaurants and bakeries taking part, there’s something for every dessert craving. There’s the decadent South Carolina Coconut Cake at Porter House New York steakhouse, newcomer Pondicheri‘s Chai Pie, and a little bit of everything with the Taster Box from the city’s splashiest new sweet arrival Cookie DŌ.
In 2015, sweet-toothed New Yorkers helped raise over $32,000 for the nonprofit group’s mission of delivering over two million hot meals to elderly residents annually on weekends, holidays and during emergencies.
So don’t forget to save room for dessert all month long.
