Backstreet’s back, alright!
Actually, the Backstreet Boys never left — and they’re experiencing a resurgence in popularity, thanks to their record-breaking residency in Las Vegas and new singles that are popular both on country and pop radio stations.
The biggest-selling boy band in history is set to make an epic return to MTV with a performance before the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards on August 20 — exactly 20 years after their first appearance on the VMAs.
When will The Backstreet Boys be on the VMAs?
The Boys — AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Nick Carter, Howie Dorough and Brian Littrell — will kick off the night with a performance during the VMAs red carpet pre-show.
The VMAs red carpet pre-show will be hosted by Terrence J, Nessa and Jersey Shore stars Pauly D and Vinny Guadagnino and starts at 8 p.m. EST.
And it’s easy to see the BsB gang is excited to perform.
“When you wake up feeling happy and know it’s gonna be a great day!” Carter posted on Instagram Monday morning.
Fans hurt before Oklahoma Backstreet Boys concert
The Backstreet Boys’s MTV VMAs performance caps off a tragic few days for the group. The group was set to play a concert at the WinStar World Casino and Resort on August 18, but it was cancelled when a storm with winds of up to 80 mph hit the area.
“We never want to put our fans in harm’s way,” the group tweeted after the cancellation.
However, as many as 14 fans in line were injured when the entrance to the show collapsed. They were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
“The most important thing is for everyone to get home safely and we will see you all very soon!” the group said, adding that they plan to reschedule the show.
One fan injured, Rhonda Dunn, experienced a compression fracture in her spine. However, she tearfully told TMZ that she’d be there in the front row when the group returns to Oklahoma.
“Whether I’m in a back brace or not, we’re going back,” she said.
