After a recent rash of New York City subway slashings, the well-known citizen patrol organization Guardian Angels aremaking their way back to New York City subway platformsto add an extra level of presence and safety to the subway system.

The Guardian Angels first began patroling the subways during the late 1970s and early 1980s as a way to keep the city safe during a time when crime in the city was extremely high.
The organization was founded by Curtis Sliwa back in 1979, and the group was active through the 1980s.
