An Instagram gallery isn’t the Deadpool 2 home video tie-in we expected, but the Deadpool Selfie Museum is here anyway. Open at Industria Studio 10 (356 W. 12th St.) in the West Village for just four days from Aug. 8-11, the Deadpool and Friends’ Believe in Your Selfie Museum has nine photo ops, and we got a sneak peek at all of them.
As a charming combination of wholesome and perverse, there is definitely some unexpected moments inside the Deadpool Selfie Museum. The gallery opens with Wade Wilson’s couch, whose back folds open to let you kneel inside and make it appear like you, too, are just waiting for your freakishly small toddler legs to grow into real ones.
There’s a nod to the ill-fated X-Force, who briefly joined Deadpool’s #squad, and a hall of charred teddy bears that haunt bad guy Cable. For levity, you can jump into Colossus’ big, shiny foam pit, and grab your honey for a snuggle among the falling roses and love-themed neon signs.
There’s a row of falling dominos in a nod to Domino, whose totally legit superpower is luck (the rest of us can only wish), a giant inflatable unicorn surrounded by many other unicorns to ride and snuggle, and lots of cute little art in-jokes. Visitors also receive a red-and-white Family Is Not An F-Word trucker hat and a pack of Troll sour gummies on the way out.
The Deadpool and Friends’ Believe in Your Selfie Museum tickets are free; hours are from noon-8 p.m. on Aug. 8-9 and noon-9 p.m. on Aug. 10-11. Admission is very limited and you must be 18 or older; register for a timeslot on Eventbrite. There will be a standby line, too.
Deadpool 2 Super Duper $@%!#& Cut, with 15 extra minutes of “brand-new action and jokes lovingly inserted throughout,” in the words of Twentieth Century Fox, is out on digital Aug. 7 and Blu-ray Aug. 21.
