PHOTOS: Meet Sauerkraut, the latest Internet cat sensation

We may have just found the new Grumpy Cat and its name is Sauerkraut.

The two-year old cat was rescued from an animal shelter and adopted by Amy and Patrick Bender.

Sauerkraut was born with brain issues and a heart murmur, but always remains in good spirit and is just as playful as any other cat out there despite her small size. She weighs about 5 pounds and she is full-grown.

During an interview with REX, Amy explains: “When Sauerkraut came to us as a foster, it was clear early on that she had some neurological problems. We thought she was deaf for the first two weeks, as she didn’t react to sounds or loud noises like a typical cat. We also had a lot of trouble getting her to eat. She was fed shredded chicken and turkey baby food for several weeks, as that is all she would eat! She will now eat cat food as long as it’s limited ingredient and grain free.

Sauerkraut also enjoys traveling in cars and looking at traffic from out the window.

The Benders knew she was a special cat from the minute they saw her:

Sauerkraut comments: “My mom knew right off how special I was! I may look like a crabby baby, but I’m actually very friendly. I love snuggles and my mom couldn’t get anything done with me around! I wanted her to hold me all the time! When I grow up, I want to be an ambassador for rescued kitties. Everyone deserves a warm home and snuggles and there are way too many kitties like me in the shelters.”

How adorable is that? We hope Sauerkraut lives a long and playful life.
