PHOTOS: No longer for the dogs, Westminster opens up to cats, too

Hold your growls, folks.

It seems dogs and cats can live in harmony — or at least, sans mass hysteria — as proved this weekend at the 141st annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, where felines made their debut appearance.

For the first time in the history of the prestigious show, cats joined canines at the “Meet and Compete” eventon Saturday. It was, predictably, adorable.

Cats won’t be competing in the official Westminster Kennel Club All-Breed Dog Show on Monday and Tuesday, but in years prior, events featuring cats were held separately. WKC partnered with the American Kennel Club to bring a Bengal cat from Maryland named Jungletrax Abiding Ovation and others to meet the dog-loving crowds.
