Photographer Adam Opris has captured newly-engaged couples celebrating their exciting news in a series of stunning underwater photo shoots.
The international wedding photographer spent the last two years capturing the touching portraits which have only been recently released.
The water adds a depth of romance to the photographs, the women appear mermaid-esque, floating through the water in ethereal gowns, while they embrace their husbands-to-be.
This is not the first time that Adam has shot underwater, the experimental photographer first caught the world’s attention with his beautiful portraits of expectant mothers flowing through the water. The series highlights the joy, romance and excitement following a proposal from the partner you love.
Adam says: “While the world welcomes a new year, many couples are saying ‘yes’ to their wedding proposals.
“The year 2015 is bringing in so many new trends that are innovative, fun, and unique. One of those new trends that I am starting with my clients is a unique underwater engagement shoot!” Adam, who grew up in South Florida says that being near to the ocean was always second nature to him; and the results of his underwater shoots highlight his ease of using the natural elements in his shoots. “After a few test shoots I realized that the options underwater are limitless. Once I captured my first underwater engagement shoot and realised what a great experience they had, I knew this was something that would be great to offer all of my wedding clients.” The photographer explained that the couples enjoyed taking part, and the part which took the most preparation was preparing outfits and ideas to suit their themes.
Adam says his shoots last 90 minutes and that each couple is only underwater for a few seconds at a time in order to capture the photos and keep an open line of communication.
“Every couple that comes to me looking for something different and unique always has a story. I love bringing each person’s character into the photo shoot and letting them show me what makes them unique as a couple. “By putting them into the water, there are so many fun things we can do with the near weightless environment that would not be possible in a standard engagement shoot!”
