President Obama to deliver Oval Office address on terrorism this Sunday night

In the wake of theSan Bernardino shootings,President Barack Obama will address the nation from the Oval Officeon Sunday night, reports said.

The Oval Office speechwill be only the third of Obama’s presidency.

Obama will speak on theshooting that killed 14 earlier this week that is being investigated as a possible terrorist attack, and the “broader threat of terrorism,” according to CNN.

“The President will also discuss the broader threat of terrorism, including the nature of the threat, how it has evolved, and how we will defeat it,” White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement to CNN. “He will reiterate his firm conviction that ISIL will be destroyed and that the United States must draw upon our values — our unwavering commitment to justice, equality and freedom — to prevail over terrorist groups that use violence to advance a destructive ideology.”

The speech will be broadcastlive at 8 p.m. ET.

Obama’sprevious Oval Office addresses were both in 2010 — overthe end of U.S. operations in Iraq, and the Gulf oil spill, according to CNN.
