A banner with a picture of Russian President Vladimir Putin and the word “Peacemaker” was unfurled on the Manhattan Bridge on Thursday afternoon, according to reports.

”It took them a while,” a witnesstold Gothamist, referring to the people who hung the flag. “They were kind of fumbling with it. PIX11also speculated that the flag might be connected to a 2014 pop-up shop in Gramercythat sold Peacemaker Putin gear in an effort to “show the heroic” side of the Russian leader. The flag was removed by police before 3 p.m., according to Gothamist.
