A 35-year-old Queens barber has been sentenced to 19 years in prison for stabbing a customer to death over a pair of headphones.
Cedric N. Simpson, 35, was convicted of first-degree manslaughter last month.
According to Queens DA Richard Brown, Simpson agreed to buy a Bluetooth headphones from a 19 year old customer, Carl Richardson, but didn’t have the money. When Richardson came by the barbershop to collect the cash on Mar. 25, 2014, the two men argued and started fighting. Simpson ran back into the shop and grabbed a pair of scissors from the station where he worked, and stabbed the victim in the neck, upper back and eventually the chest, killing him.
The Daily News reported at the time the men had agreed upon $40 for the headphones.
