Sacha Kljestan is headed for what might be the biggest international match of his life. The New York Red Bulls midfielder will play in a pair of World Cup qualifiers with the United States national team.

Metro New York has learned that Kljestan will be called up for the United States and their upcoming matches against Mexico and at Costa Rica. This summer, Kljestan returned to the national team picture after several years away from the setup, his strong play in MLS with the Red Bulls earning him another call (ironically when defender John Anthony Brooks went down with an injury). He then stepped up and performed very well for national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann.

Klinsmann led the league with 20 assists this season, just the second time in league history that a player has eclipsed the 20-assist number. He is also one of three finalists for the league’s MVP award.
