Dreaming of an Italian getaway? NYC & Company, the city’s tourism marketing organization has a better idea for you: Arthur Avenue, an Italian enclave in the Bronx.
On Wednesday, NYC & Company launched their “See Your City” campaign, a three-month long effort to get New Yorkers to explore neighborhoods across the five boroughs.
There are ten total neighborhoods showcased: Arthur Avenue (the Bronx), Carroll Gardens (Brooklyn), DUMBO (Brooklyn), the Staten Island Greenbelt, Harlem (Manhattan), Hell’s Kitchen (Manhattan), Jackson Heights (Queens), Long Island City (Queens), St. George (Staten Island) and Van Cortlandt Park (the Bronx).
“For visitors, a trip to New York City is a vacation of a lifetime. For a lucky 8 million, it’s just a subway ride away,” said Fred Dixon, president and CEO of NYC & Company. “Start thinking of the more than 250 New York City neighborhoods as 250 opportunities to travel.”
The “See Your City” website outlines brief histories of the neighborhoods, attractions and starting points for exploration. The vintage-inspired posters can be seen in bus shelters, and campaign commercials will run in city cabs. Social media campaigns accompany the effort, and New Yorkers are encouraged to share their favorite city spots with the hashtag #seeyourcity.
