Whether you’ve seen the seasonal classic “The Nutcracker” many times or been meaning to get around to it, the New York Theatre Ballet is making it easy. The performing arts company is partnering with Arts Brookfield to present three free shows of Keith Michael’s “The Nutcracker” on Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3 in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place (230 Vesey St.). The Juilliard-trained choreographer’s version condenses Tchaikovsky’s iconic ballet into an hour, setting the story in 1907 with Art Nouveau touches like clockwork imps and costumes by the Metropolitan Opera’s resident designer. Arrive early for a chance to take photos with the cast before each show, which take place at 7 p.m. on both nights, plus a Saturday matinee at 1 p.m.
