While it’s been over a year since the Beyhive first became obsessed with “Lemonade,” fans still can’t get enough of Beyonce’s latest studio album.
Since the music icon is back dominating headlines with the birth of her new twins—as well as her hubby Jay-Z seemingly responding to “Lemonade” with the drop of his new record “4:44”—it’s only natural that her adoring fans continue to shower her with tributes. Massachusetts’ own Blackstrap BBQ is now getting in on the fun with its new Beyonce-themed beverage that makes for a perfect summertime sip.
The Winthrop barbecue purveyors recently unveiled its new drink menu, including an offering fit for music royalty like Queen Bey. The Beyonce Lemonade is a fruity cocktail creation made with strawberry-rhubarb and lime zest vodka as well as lemonade made in house.
Blackstrap BBQ offers a boozy take on the classic beverage that has a bit more of a kick to it than how Beyonce’s grandmother would make the drink. According to Pop Sugar, grandma Bey’s recipe only includes “one pint of water, add half pound of sugar, the juice of eight lemons” and zest from half a lemon, which is them poured in and out of several jugs before being strained through a napkin. To be honest, both versions sound delicious.
As for the barbecue shop’s other new drinks, the menu features several tasty cocktails like the Blackbird, a mix of blackberry, raspberry and basil gin, muddled lime and blackberry-basil syrup. There’s also the Smoked Bellini, a blend of house smoked peach puree, lemon and prosecco, as well as the Sweet Home La Paloma, made with black pepper-grapefruit tequila, grapefruit juice, lime and purple hibiscus salt. All cocktails, including the Beyonce Lemonade, are $9 each.
So the next time you’re in Winthrop, make sure to channel your inner Queen Bey while munching on some barbecue fare. Just don’t forget the hot sauce.
