The Philadelphia 76ers returned to the training center between home matchups on Thursday. A few hours after their practice session, the Sixers unveiled their injury report ahead of their Friday matchup against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The injury report revealed that Joel Embiid, Andre Drummond, Kyle Lowry, and KJ Martin will all miss the upcoming game. Embiid will miss the game due to a lingering foot sprain, Drummond due to a toe sprain, Lowry due to a hip injury, and KJ Martin, who, despite recently removing the boot from his leg, continues to heal from a stress reaction in his left foot.
Earlier at practice, the Sixers head coach, Nick Nurse, gave a rundown of who did not participate in practice for the Sixers.
“No Drum, no Kyle, no KJ,” Nurse told reporters, according to Sixerswire’s Ky Carlin. “Everybody else was in.”
Embiid’s return to practice is certainly a welcome sign, but his lingering absence continues to frustrate the Sixers, who are slowly running out of runway to make their assent.
Against the also injury-riddled Pelicans, the Sixers may be able to overcome another game with the absence of significant players, but with the recent return of Zion Williamson, it certainly will not be easy.
This game will mark Embiid’s 23rd missed game out of a total of 36 games played by Philadelphia.
