Son took Uber to dump mom’s body in Queens park, cops suspect

Police were searching Flushing-Meadows Corona Park Friday for a missing Queens woman’s body after they believed her son made the dump there, reports said.

They were tipped off to the location of 58-year-old Lyubova Gorbunova’s remains after an Uber driver said he thought her son used his car to transport the body, according to DNAinfo.

Roman, 21, told police that he and his mother were arguing when she told him she wished he had never been born, theNew York Daily News reported.

Gorbunova, a home health aide from Rego Park, Queens, was last seen on Sept. 27, according to police. The last image of her, captured on surveillance footage, shows her walking across the lobby of her building alongside her son Roman, the Daily News reported.

Roman was allegedly captured by those same cameras two days later leaving the building and carrying a large garbage bag. According to DNAinfo, Roman hailed an Uber to Flushing Meadows-Corona Park, and the driver later reported the suspicious activity to police, saying that the bag smelled like a dead body.

Even though Roman had reportedly been arrested for stealing a security monitor for his mother’s building, police didn’t initially tie anything together because his mother wasn’t reported missing until Oct. 4.

Police began their search of the park Thursday and continued Friday. As of Friday evening, nothing had been found and no charges had been filed against Roman Gorbunova.
